The City Council of Coslada has begun the process of public consultation for the draft of the new Citizen Participation Regulation. This key document aims to strengthen citizen involvement in municipal management. The consultation phase will be open until August 27th.
This regulation is the result of an exhaustive work process that began in 2018, with active collaboration and unwavering commitment from the associative fabric of Coslada and individual residents. Their contributions have been crucial in shaping a text that seeks to adapt participation mechanisms to the current needs of the locality, ensuring that the voice of the citizens is heard and valued.
The new draft is here to modernize a regulatory framework dating back to 2004, responding to the social, technological, and legislative developments of the last two decades. The goal is to expand and diversify the channels through which people and entities in Coslada can effectively intervene in local public affairs. This includes facilitating access to municipal information and promoting spaces for participatory governance, both at an individual and collective level.
Regulation Updates
One of the significant updates in the regulation is the establishment of Neighborhood Assemblies as essential territorial participation bodies. These assemblies will allow residents and local entities to directly participate in the management of their neighborhoods, debating and deciding on specific actions and investments that affect their closest environment.
"This step is another demonstration of the Municipal Government’s commitment to constant, open, and transparent dialogue," stated Elena Lebrato, Councilor for Citizen Participation and Third Deputy Mayor. "We are convinced that citizen participation is essential to achieve full democracy and improve the quality of life for the residents of Coslada. We invite all citizens and entities to review the draft and submit their contributions during this period of prior consultation to continue building the future of our city together."
