The Biciestétrca APS Project has come to an end in its sixth edition with the delivery of diplomas to the 9 students who have participated in this project, in recognition of their solidarity work and to reinforce their significant improvement in academic performance.
The event was attended by the Councilor for Children and Youth, Iván López, and the Director of the IES Antonio Gaudí, Félix Sánchez. Also present were a group of people with intellectual disabilities from the Nelson Mandela Occupational Center, who were able to thank the students firsthand for the work they have done with them.
The project involves students from the Educational Compensation Classroom specializing in Hairdressing and Esthetics, belonging to the IES Antonio Gaudí. They are a particularly vulnerable student body with a significant history of academic failure who, thanks to their participation in Biciestética, regain their motivation to learn.
After learning basic techniques of manicure, hand massages, and hairstyling, they have carried out sessions at the Nelson Mandela Occupational Center to provide service to people with functional diversity, which helps them take greater interest in caring for their personal appearance.
Before the intervention, they received training on how people with functional diversity are and visited the occupational center organized by ASPIMIP. Likewise, these students received training in the traffic education circuit, as they traveled to the place where they provided service by bicycle.
This year, they also participated in the Project at the Residence for People with Severe Intellectual Disabilities in the Community of Madrid located in Coslada. In this case, they assisted people with severe disabilities and were warmly welcomed by the residents.
The entry The APS Biciestética comes to an end with the delivery of diplomas to the students of the IES Antonio Gaudí was first published on the Coslada City Council website.
