A total of 5,109 boys and girls will benefit from this initiative. Organized by the Education Department of the City Council of Coslada, the program Coslada Juega en Verano has started, offering educational leisure for children during the summer holidays. This program also allows parents to balance work, personal, and family life in the summer, ensuring children’s rights to education, play, and participation. This year, it continues to provide reception and dining services.
A total of 5,109 places have been filled for the different shifts from June 23 to September 5, which is almost 200 more places than last summer. The program includes a nursing service at CEIP Blas de Otero.
Here is the breakdown of the places:
– From 7 am to 4 pm (reception with breakfast, activity, and dining): 533 places.
– From 8 am to 4 pm (activity and dining): 2,684 places.
– From 9 am to 2 pm (activity): 1,892 places.
Regarding the open centers from June 23 to August 1, there are five: Antoni Tapies, Blas de Otero, El Olivo, Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, and William Shakespeare. From August 4 to September 5, two schools will offer the program: Antoni Tapies and El Olivo.
Students with special needs:
The program has reserved places for students with special educational needs. There have been 19 requests, of which 8 participants will have a specialized professional in special education to work with them individually throughout the 11 weeks of activity. The other 11 participants will receive shared support within the group they will integrate into and participate with the other children.
Furthermore, the program also offers places for students who, according to the requirements of the Ministry of Education, can use the dining service for free. A total of 309 places are occupied with the free dining service, which are referrals received from municipal Social Services and CIDAM.
The Councilor for Education, José Sousa, highlighted that «this summer, for the fourth consecutive year, the program will have a nursing service integrated into the work team of one of the educational centers with an opening, specifically, CEIP Blas de Otero. The professional will be present throughout the month of July with the aim of attending to and supporting the requests received, which, due to health reasons, need the attention and follow-up of said specialist.»
