La IV Jornada de Justicia Social aborda la Soledad no deseada como un desafío social y comunitario.

In the framework of the International Day of Social Justice, the IV Social Justice Conference has been held in Coslada under the title ‘Unwanted Loneliness: a social challenge, a community response.’ This event, aimed at professionals in the social field, has brought together experts and entities to reflect and share experiences on this global phenomenon that affects millions of people.

The conference, organized by the Coslada City Council through the Department of Social Services and Seniors, began with an opening speech by the Councilor for Social Services and Seniors, Charo Arroyo.

During her speech, the councilor did not hesitate to draw attention to «the importance of a phenomenon like unwanted loneliness that affects the elderly, but not exclusively. These types of conferences are an interesting tool to address an issue that is deeper than society may perceive.»

Among other things, at the start of the initiative, the relevance of building more inclusive communities to combat social isolation and promote social cohesion in neighborhoods was highlighted.

The main presentation, led by Elisa Lillo López from Madrid Salud, delved into the strategies being implemented in the city of Madrid to address this challenge from a technical and community perspective.

Throughout the conference, three practical experiences were presented that exemplify successful initiatives in combating loneliness:

– Experimental Project CRECE: Let’s Build Community, by Cruz Roja Madrid, focused on energizing community networks.
– CONVIVE: Intergenerational Program between Seniors and University Students, by Solidarios para el Desarrollo Madrid, which promotes intergenerational coexistence.
– Project AINE: Prevention of Unwanted Loneliness in Young People, developed by the Youth Center of Albacete, which addresses social isolation among young people.

The event concluded with a reflection on the need to continue working on initiatives that connect people and transform public spaces into meeting and inclusive places.

The IV Social Justice Conference reaffirms the commitment of social professionals and institutions to build a more united and supportive society in the face of the challenge of unwanted loneliness.

The poster for these conferences was designed by students of the Higher Degree in Marketing and Advertising at the Luis Braille Secondary School in Coslada.
