Carnival is one of the festivals that have been celebrated over the years and centuries. In fact, its origin dates back to the time of the Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks. As a result, it is a tradition for masks and costumes to take over the streets in cities around the world.
This year, the troupes, chirigotas, costume contests, and parties will take place between February 28 and March 5, although in some municipalities in Madrid, they start a few days earlier. Therefore, we bring you a brief guide so you don’t miss out on some of the activities organized in your municipality.
Móstoles
The main novelty of this year’s carnival is the return of the Entierro de la Sardina, after more than a decade without being celebrated. Like in the rest of the municipalities, it will be held on Wednesday, March 5, coinciding with the beginning of Lent.
