With the mayor’s participation as vice president of the FEMP’s 2030 commission
Until today, Seville is hosting the VI Edition of the World Forum on Local Economic Development, which has been taking place since April 1 at the Congress and Exhibition Center in the Sevillian capital.
Coslada has been present at the event, with the participation of the mayor, Ángel Viveros, in the event Decentralized Cooperation and Agenda 2030: Alliances for Sustainable Development. Strengthening local and global action for a sustainable future, which took place yesterday.
During his speech, Viveros, also the first vice president of the Local Entities Agenda 2030 Network of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, emphasized the “importance of cooperation between City Councils, Provincial Councils, Island Councils, and Insular Councils to boost the individual capacity of each of these entities, as well as to take the necessary steps to consolidate mechanisms that facilitate the monitoring and evaluation of our actions in sustainable development”.
He highlighted the significant role of the so-called “Voluntary Local Reports”, which he described as a “key tool” if used to create a national report.
The mayor of Coslada stressed the importance of continuing the progress “in sustainable development” with the firm purpose of “ensuring that the efforts of each local entity have a real and measurable impact on improving the quality of life of our neighbors”.
In addition to recognizing the work of the Local Entities Agenda 2030, he advocated for “being more ambitious and, at the same time, more demanding of ourselves”.

Improving quality of life
In a local context, regarding Coslada, the mayor did not hesitate to describe the City Council’s membership in the Network as very positive, to the point of considering it “one of the most successful decisions in our local development strategy”.
Specifically, he noted that during this time, “we have been able to take advantage of multiple resources, tools, and learning opportunities that have contributed to continuing to progress towards building a more collaborative, sustainable, and inclusive city model”.
Among the many achievements in this area, Ángel Viveros highlighted, among other things, progress in local governance. This, in turn, has translated into “working on sustainability not only as an environmental concept but with a comprehensive approach that encompasses social, economic, and cultural dimensions”, always with “citizen well-being at the core of our policies”.
As a summary, he also valued Coslada’s membership and continued presence in the Network, stating that “it has been a period of learning, growth, and commitment”. “We have taken significant steps in building a more sustainable, inclusive, and participatory municipality, but we are aware that there is still much to be done. Now the goal is to continue consolidating this city model, that is, improving the quality of life of the people of Coslada and, at the same time, strengthening our commitment to the 2030 Agenda”, he concluded. Along with the mayor of Coslada, other participants in this panel held on Wednesday in Seville as part of the World Forum were Antonio Pérez, president of the Local Entities Network of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development of the FEMP and mayor of Benidorm (Alicante); Lorena Orduna, vice president 2nd of the Network and mayor of Huesca; Miguel Ángel Morales, president of the Cooperation Commission for development and ODS of the FEMP and president of the Cáceres Provincial Council; Miguel Ángel Valverde, vice president of the Cooperation Commission for development and ODS of the FEMP and president of the Ciudad Real Provincial Council.
