El alcalde de Coslada visita a escolares promoviendo la Maratón de Donación de Sangre en el Hospital del Henares

The mayor of Coslada has visited the schoolchildren promoting the blood donation campaign

The mayor of Coslada, Ángel Viveros, visited the Hospital del Henares this morning to meet with the schoolchildren participating in a new edition of the Service Learning project that promotes blood donation.

This is the tenth consecutive year that this Service Learning project has been carried out. The CEIP El Olivo is involved in the project with 6th-grade boys and girls, around 50 schoolchildren aged 11/12. The campaign slogan for this year is “Drop by drop, life springs forth.”

The students have designed the poster and this year, they have prepared keychains to give to donors, as well as thank you messages that are given to those who donate blood. The marathon takes place on May 27th and 28th from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Training sessions

The Hospital del Henares and the Transfusion Center are also involved in the project, in addition to facilitating the organization of the blood donation marathon, they conduct a series of training sessions for students to learn the basic information about blood donation and its history, in which Spain plays a prominent role.

The students also participated in a workshop with real blood samples to experimentally see how blood types are determined.

In the summer season, there is usually a shortage of donations, as stated by the Hematology Department of the Hospital del Henares, so the campaign is especially useful in increasing blood reserves, as well as increasing the number of people donating blood for the first time in Coslada.

The post New edition of the Blood Donation Marathon at the Hospital del Henares was first published on the Coslada City Council website.
